Varithena is an FDA approved non-surgical non-thermal treatment for varicose veins. Varithena is an injectable (polidocanol) foam. This is a low nitrogen foam which causes a mild, inflammatory reaction, infiltration and scar formation of the vein. This leads to the elimination of the lumen leading to Venus closure. Overtime the vein becomes a fibrous cord and dissipates.
